The Downsman is proud to include blind & disabled bowlers among its membership. Although they have their own fixtures, they are full members of the club and participate in matches and competitions alongside able bodied players.
The club has facilities to cater for blind and disabled bowlers including:-
- Disabled toilets
- Wheelchairs suitable for playing on the green, including a motorised one
- Ramps for wheelchairs to get into the clubhouse and the green
- Bowling arms
- Bowls
As with any bowls club, if you want to come and try it, just having flat shoes is all you need or we can make the wheelchair available if required.
Our club is in West Green playing fields that does have a car park and the club is situated just a few yards from bus stops.
The blind and disabled bowlers have their own captain and chairperson to manage fixtures and look after all their specific needs.
If you do wish more information, then please contact club captain Tony Ludbrook via email on info@downsmanbowls.co.uk.
